This course has been designed for the second-year students of the English Philology Departmnet. The course aims to supply the students with the pertinent information on the history of the development of the English and American literature. It comprises 6 lectures (12 academic hours) and 36 practical classes (72 academic hours). Throughout the course of theoretical training the learners will get acquainted with cultural and historical background of development of literature in the USA and Great Britain at all stages of its historical development. The students will learn about the major periods of the development of British and American literature, their main representatives and main works of the most famous writers and poets. Within the course of practical training the students will read and analyze the most famous works of representatives of prose and poetry of both countries under study.

Założenia i cele, efekty kształcenia: |
The subject is offered as a course of lectures and practical training for groups of students comprising 15 students and more. The learners are required to participate actively in summarizing discussions as well as to make thorough notes of the presented material. Also, they are required to read the major works of the most famous American and British writers and poets and participate in their discussion. Additional materials on the subject will aim to add some more details to every aspect of the British and American literature touched upon in the lectures and will require thorough additional analysis of the recommended reference materials during the course of practical studies and at home |
